Lihir Meri Developmen Association which is concerned with the cooperation of Women and Youth on Lihir their issues and needs for economic, social and spiritual development through its Meri Development Senta to generate income and profits has a healthy bank account after the first 17 months of operations.

Between April 2013 and October 2014 the Senta recorded 127 bookings for its conference facilities which, currently is its only means of sustaining the organization. LMDS in the last 17 months has hosted Two National Haus Krais and provided the venue for important events hosted by the Nimamar Local Level Government, Lihir Mining Area Landowners Association, Newcrest Mining limited and the Lihir Sub Branch of the Red Cross.

Addressing its first Annual General Meeting, Chairperson of the Association's Advisory Committee, Mrs Rose Toelinkanut said although the number of bookings for its conference facilities may sound big, room occupancy is very low and what little income they have made, is still not enough to sustain the organization. Mrs. Teolinkanut said the senta continues to present opportunities that have locked the directions to move forward in 2015 and the years to come.
